    Are the contents original to the holdall? They could provide the best clue.

    I am guessing you refer to the brown example, in the middle, Stephan.

    I am sure you have had a thorough search, but stamps can occasionally be hidden under the side flaps or even inside the pocket face... (just clutching at straws)!

    I had a similar one which had a bicycle repair kit in it when i picked it up.

    I have just tried to find mine to no avail, from what I remember it was also a lighter weight/thinner cotton.

    Tan as opposed to white cotton washrolls were produced in Great Britain during World War one and also in Canada in World War Two so it is possible it is one of these.
