    Default Lee Enfield early oiler

Waited a long time to get one of these at the right price and condition to go with my other oilers not that I have many but normally this type go for a reasonable price.
Unlike the modern oilers these have a slightly domed base so do not like standing upright all that well.

3 = ? certainly not March is it!

1860 = DOM if thats the case it is in pretty good condition for 158 years

    W/|\D = War Dept

    Crown over B 58 = ?

    TIA

Very nice. I’m yet to own one of these Mk1 / Mk 2 oilers. They first came into service in 1889.

So I am thinking now since the oiler's like these ones did not get made until 1889 then the No. on the spoon head could be to a rifle!

Hi, the letter B is the inspection mark from the Sparkbrook (now BSA) plant and this dates the oiler to about 1906, so pre WW1.

Sorry, I’m unsure about the numbers. I believe they are further inspection marks.
