im wondering if anyone has an idea what this item is? i dug this up on an old ww2 raf camp. and thoughts would be appreciated

it looks to me very much like an amunition fead for a machine gun ????

that might be why i found cartridge cases 3 or 4 yards from this find, would be nice if someone could confirm your thoughts. any idea what type of machine gun would use this?

just a gues but probably a .303 browning aircraft machine gun mabe from a turret on a bomber
i dont think it is a wing mount ammo shute
im sure some one will know for sure
