I think it is a B8 "Seat Pack" / Pilots Chute. I think they were used as a seat cushion on the P-51 Mustang, but may be wrong. I also think it was originally a 2 piece system with an attached dinghy or float device for emergency water landings.

Could be worth some money but is an odd thing to sell you have to find just the right collector to sell this to, sorry I have no idea of the value

I know the harness system is missing.... and yes, lousy repack, lol.....
