    Hello
    I bought this Wonderful conditioned gasmask without filter
    The seller mean that it was from WW2 made 1942 but im not an expert on US Gasmasks
    It in Universalsize and it have many markings
    Is it the M2/M3 or the M4 model and is it from WW2
    I am thankful for all posts and infrmations

    If you could take some more pictures of the complete front of the mask so that it can be seen that will help in positively identifying this..

    I believe this is an M3 mask due to the color of the mask (grey) M4 masks were OD (Olive drab in color)

    What I am a little curious about is the black colored eye pieces. In most of the photos I have seen of the M3 masks is the same grey colored eye pieces and not black. I am not sure if these were replaced or if they came with the mask.

    Here is another link to a similar mask but you will notice with this mask the eye pieces are the same grey color as the mask itself...

    I haven't played with mine for years so I'm a little rusty on these! but mine also has the black coloured eye pieces.

    Rene,

    So you think it possible that the black colored eyepieces were excess stock that were used on earlier models and with the new design the eye piece did not change and they utilized the old stock??

    I can't think of any other reason for the different colors...

    Old stock is most likely the case, certainly done with other pieces of gear ie M1 & BAR belts etc..
