looks to me to be from the cupolar of a sherman tank cheers ian
Oh ok, thanks.
the adjustment is of the mirrors inside it changes the angles up or down try it youl see what i meen , having thought about it i think it may be a drivers periscope from a sherman as its got a long body
Hi
As Ian says its from a Sherman tank and if you turn those small handles the two reflective mirrors should come out.

Thanks guys i just took it apart and the screw thing is blanked off inside.
thatl be the mounting screw a knurled large head screw oposit side to a spring
while you have it apart look at the mirrors you will see one should be fixed and one adjustable you will see an adjusting screw there to the lable is to record the settings for srtait wiewing so that if the mirror moves you can set it back again and every time the sight is checked by the instrements people they set it to strait sight and record any new settings
i hope thet helps cheers ian
One mirror has 4 little screws in the seal.
i understand what your saying, thanks alot.
one last thing tho what is the spring/metal strip, thats on the opposite side of the mounting screw for?
cheers.
that spring alows it to be tightend in its mount without crushing the body of the perecope .gives it a tight fit without being to tight if you undertand what i mean
cheers ian
I see, been bugging me for years, i allways thought it was missing bits, know its all clear.
thanks alot ian.
