Nice mint one that is still in the box. Thanks for showing it. I'm assuming the fur lined ones generally would be used in aircraft because of the freezing temperatures at the high altitudes .
Thanks mark, I sold a mint/unused tankers helmet and got this one instead because although I like mint examples I really like items that had seen actual service use like this helmet has. I have seen a number photos of Canadian tankers using this type helmet also. I wasn't a tanker so I wonder what that G15 stands for, Ray

Sorry Ray cant help you there but I should make a correction to my previous post the actual designation was the US M-6 crash helmet not the M-38 as I previously posted the Canadian designation for this crash helmet was ( Helmet, Crash, Tank, USA Pattern or A15650 )
These were preferred in some theater of operations such as Italy and North West Europe over the RAC ,Steel Mk I (Helmet, Steel, No. 4)
As there resemblance to the German M-38 Fallschirmjaeger helmet was quite striking and could very easily be mistaken at a distance or under adverse conditions.
Regards Mark
PS. I also prefer my helmets a little salty and field worn and would have very likely did the same if I had the opportunity

I looked this up after you mentioned the Canadian helmet. Interesting info on Canadian tankers helmets. So staying on the original topic about Resistal goggles and not change the subject to tankers helmets
. It looks like the tanker in the first photo might be wearing Resistal goggles with his Canadian helmet. Also further on, you see the US type tanker helmets being worn, Ray
