    Default Round Canteen ID

Hey guys, need a little help on the ID of round canteen that was given to me. I don't know if its WWII or Pre-WWII? Who knows. I have attached a pic. It appears to be made of aluminum and welded down the axis. It has a cork/metal top and came with a canvas bag with a metal snap that has "US" printed on the outside and "1942" on the inside. The inside also has what appears to be the manufacturer printed. It appears to read "O.D. MFG CO RS". Some of those letters may be off. Any help would be appreciated for ID and rough est value. Here is a pic

Do not think the canteen is US issue. The canvas bag looks like a Thompson SMG Drum magazine bag.

You probabbly (sp) right, the canteen will only fit when the top is in the 2:00 position. So the bag does not really appear to be the original. Good call. Thx JL

    Slight correction

Spent Thursday afternoon at a Museum in Gorham Maine.

The canteen lookes like a Spanish American War US Army canteen with out the canvass cover comparing it to one in their collection.

    Cheers
