U.S. Snowshoes found in Finland

    Default U.S. Snowshoes found in Finland

    From Norway Maine. propably U.S. military aid in WW 2 (to Russia?). Is it possible to date these ones more precisely?

    The text Snograft inc,Norway Maine U.S, 3915,USA, B.O.M.D is on the wooden crossbeam. The leather parts are marked U.S.

    Hi Jan page 155 of Government Issue US Army European Theater Of Operations Collectors Guide has the same shoes listed as Snowshoes,Bearpaw used by Mountain Troops very nice . Gary

    Thanks a lot Gary! Bought them from a fleamarket here in Finland, the seller (who wasnt a specialist) maintained they could be part of U.S aid to Finland in the so called "winter war" agains Russia 1939-1940. I have my doubts about that but they show alot of wear but no breaks. Love them worn but not torn. Price was 100 euros.

    Hi Jan these could be war aid i have found other early US army items in Finland that were sent as war aid
