Unidentified British Tin

Hi Guys

I wonder if anyone can help me identify this tin. Its clearly marked W/|\D and dated 1951 on the base. I am guessing its a spare part tin, but spares for what? Its about 2"x3"x2.5" high. I have seen them before, but never had a confirmation of what they are. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have one the same. Came out of my Grandad's shed. Mine is un-marked.

I am not 100% sure of the id given.
