Unknown U.S WWII Bag

Hey guys i got this bag at a garage sale for $2.... It seems to be around wwii era but honestly i have no clue what it is??

I have a WWII U.S. Chemical Corps gas mask bag which is very similar
that I use for smaller camping gear - knives, flashlight, eatin' irons,
binoculars, etc. Bought it almost 20 years ago for $15.

Yours is different with the attached 'square' rings
and also a carry strap.........

Not like any US gas mask carrier that I have seen. What does the inside look like, any dividers of any type. Looks to more like some kind of specialty carrier for specialty tools or other piece of equipment.

I have a web site bookmarked that has a great deal of US canvase gear identified on it but can't find the darn thing at the moment. When I do, I will post.
