US/British made 1st aid pouch

British made 1st aid pouches I see are mostly press snap type, Is this lift a dot style common?

Yes, it's the only type of WWII closure I've ever seen on any of them from any maker !
Pretty much standard I guess.......

Quite a nice pile of kit - Great .45 holster ! !

I do have a pile of US gear!!!!! the holster is your garden variety Boyt 42

I think I should have written - This is the only Lift a Dot style British made that I've see as most have British snaps as you'd find on universal pouches. I'd dig up my example but it's a big job to find it. I'm running off photos in my PC library.

Hi Rene, the British made pouches of this type are indeed much more likely to be found with the British 1937 style snap fastener as found on British webbing. I used to own a couple of those.

United Carr Fastener Corp who at the time owned the Lift the Dot brand did operate facilities in both Britain and Australia by the end WWII, British made Lift the Dots started to appear around about 1944 and were used on a number of items including, leased lend British made U.S. webbing, the new 44 pattern jungle webbing sets and certain specialised commando items. The same also applied in Australia leased lend U.S. webbing with M1 carbine pouch being the most common and also local pattern Thompson pouches which were ether made with Durable Dots (1st pattern) or lift the dots (2nd pattern) which utilised Australian made fasteners, these pouches were produce wholly for the U.S.M.C. and are quite distinctive in design being made entirely from canvas, and actually look more like the Reising Model 50 pouches with the longer flap pockets.

Seeing that I dug up my British made M28, I found the first aid pouch. Took a couple of years but oh well
