Yes it's a name. It says "Brunson"
I am wondering why the two parts look so different. One looks more used whereas the other one is nice and shiny.
Looks ok to me. Is the top part a different metal? And yes..please show us the name/info scratched on it.

The halves didn't always stay together when they were floating around in supply, or even after when they found their way into surplus shops and shows. That's why they don't always look the same. I have 1 ww 2 dated one and the handle is pretty rusty too. The others I have from the 60's don't show any rust at all, and they do feel different, so I'm thinking they switched to all aluminum by then. The one thing I know for certain is they were a pain to eat out of, but then I am all thumbs.
