USMC Pouch Carbine M1

The Colt/Carbine pouch is USMC only. There are two models the second version looks like a standard M1 carbine pouch (1st pattern ) but has the Bartacks at the base. most appear to have been made by BOYT which is not surprising as they produce a lot of USMC gear.

The two I have match yours. I always assumed there were other makers of the dual use type pouch for the 1911 and M1 carbine mags. I could not find any info on a specific order for them or when they changed. I found a few examples of Army contract dual use pouches from 1944, but no USMC examples from other years.

The following came from a user on the CMP forums.

I believe Boyt had contracts for various USMC items. The duel use magazine pocket you are inquiring about was a USMC item. The US Army did not use/issue these duel use type pockets. The USMC markings can also be found on pistol belts and cartridge belts made for the MC.

Attached is the one issued under army contract. This is the earliest dual use pouch I have seen. The pics came from the web as I do not own this pouch.
