HALO. High Altitude Low Opening. Contrary to HAHO. High Altitude High Opening. In a HALO jump you will jump from high altitude and open at almost last moment, low altitude. A HAHO jump allows you to travel a long distance from where you jumped, being able to glide to the into your target area.

One of the advantages of HALO is that, the enemy will not hear the plane dropping the para troopers. The low opening can however make hear able sounds. But then it's too late. The issue is not getting shot at hanging in mid air.
