what is this 2 inch webbing strap for? stretcher bearer?

Hi guys this has got me baffled....
any ideas on what it is for?
its 2inch webbing, measures approx 185cm long.

clearly dated 1944 /l\

any help greatly appreciated

I wondered if it maybe some kind of shoulder strap for a stretcher bearer??

I think its a carrying stap or keeping patient on stretcher.

Stretcher Bearers straps...they go over your shoulders so the 'cross' is inbetween your shoulderblades and arms go through the two straps.The loops with the brass buckles go over the handles on the stretcher.Its to help take the weight of a person on the stretcher...one to each bearer.Looks to be an improvement on the medic having to use two separate straps like the other version.

Interesting to see a ww2 dated one..i have a couple of these that are 50's dated and green.

I got a few from a shop in Oxford a few months ago, they were all dated 1944. Also had several 50's dated in dark green
