What is this?

Article about: I cannot see any markings. Does not appear to be a typical haversack/backpack. Has 11 marked pouches, and the clasps are marked with an anchor. Thanks in advance.

Now i've seen one of these before but cant think for the life of me where!

I'm pretty sure its an Airborne medics haversack/pack.It was worn strapped to the front of the body during the jump.

I could of course be completely wrong too!

I've now found the picture i was thinking of.Its in USMC uniforms&equipment 1941-45.There is a picture of a group of medics tending to some wounded marines and one of them is wearing this item.

    Very nice item!
