WW2 canteen 1942 canteen with porno pics in bottom

I bought this a few years ago dated 1942,canteen ,cover and cup. When I took it out of cover there were 2 pornografic pic in the bottom,maybe French?Anyway cant show the grafic part here but sure was a surprise(a part of its travel history ,ha!).Guess the GI picked them up in France maybe or somewhere over there.They were hidden under cup in very bottom of cover.Seller had no idea they were there I dont think!If not appropriate post mods,please delete.

Well that different, I'm sure being in a trench for days at a time GIs needed something to do. Nice early canteen though, the flat top caps were only produced early in the war and are a little harder to find

Not something I have seen previously but I think such was more common than seems to survive.

Thanks Jerry,you are probably right,never seen any others,most vets probably got rid of stuff like this after the war,must have forgot these,sure wouldnt want the wife or grandkids to find them!Wish it would have been a couple ss death heads instead,that would have made it a great buy!This ss "hammerhead" eagle was in the pocket of a US tunic the seller missed,tunic was bought by my friend for 10.00,a nice little bonus!

We call these 'pocket finds'. Always check the pockets...you never know what you'll find. I have seen everything from trash (aspirin, cigarette butts, condoms) to treasure (medals, dog tags, documents, etc). It's amazing how often something hung on the rack for 75 years and changed hands without someone reaching into the pockets, especially since we're always taught to check pockets before doing something as simple as a load of laundry
