Was this a WW2 left over passed onto the Danish Army?
    Or WW2 issue?
    If so, I have a M48 to go with it. (U-SCH 65)
It also came with a new looking filter, bar-coded.

No worries The bags aren't too difficult to find and are not expensive

This is indeed a British lightweight service respirator used postwar by the Danish Army. Yours is fitted with a postwar type filter, which has been marked with a red band to show it is for training only. Heres one with correct filter and bag.

    Almost correct

The Lightweight respirator, although extensively used by the CF = Civilforsvaret, were never really popular with the Danish army, and Denmark quickly continued to develop on the pre war M/38 gas mask (not the German one, their own), and pressed older M/38 and German M/38 gas mask into use in the first few years before sufficient numbers of the M/49 gas mask could be issued in numbers. It is not uncommon to see photos of conscripts without any gas mask.

Monty saying "hello" to members of the Danish Royal Guard, Sandholm Barracks, April 1951.
Notice the gas mask canister. Yes, it is German!

    And another from 1955!

And members of the Danish Women's Auxiliary Service, training with the even older Danish M/31 gas mask!

The Lightweight Respirator "bag" did however see extensive use in the Danish army, in quite a different configuration.
But it was meant to carry the M/49 gas mask, and not the British style masks.
Two carry straps and two buckles were added to the back of the bag, and it was then carried vertically and not horizontal on the belt, or suspended from the right or left brace ends!

    As such:

But a lovely mask, with a long service life!
