Not a typical haversack. It seems a large pack of some sort.
I don't see 'U.S.' - are there any other markings,
perhaps inside or on the back.........?
    Regards,

    Steve.

on the back there is one but it is faded out so it looks like a blob. i have the shelter and shovel that fasten to the pack but it is hard to find one with the straps for he stuff

The 'haversack' I was thinking of is smaller than the pack
in above pic. There is a name or model # for this one,
but it escapes me - I think it's called a 'field pack'.

With it's 'two-tone' colours, the one you first posted
could be late war '45 or just after, but for a good
WWII impression, the all around tan colour looks
best - like the one your example pic above.........

    Steve.

Definetly a USMC (developed and issued)pack (top pack), and in good condition too. You can tell by the square tipped ends on the straps. Almost all Army issued pack or straps are rounded tips. The M-43 OD, camo packs were developed by the Army, but were actually used by the Marines. There were few variations of USMC packs, early or late type (top, bottom).
That is a perfect pack for your USMC display! Now you may have to find the bottom pack to complete as a set.
