    Hi guys,

Here is a canteen of mine that saw service during WWI. It's a 1918, first type, with a serial number engraved on the front. The cover is also named, but unfortunately most of the letters have faded.

Does anyone know where I can research a WWI serial number?

    Enjoy,
    Mo

The number is post WW1 as 7 digit numbers ended at 5,999,999. From 1919-1940 6'000'000 to 7,000,000 was used. Lots of WW1 equipment was used during that time. Also the cover is WW2 era, made in 1942 by J.W.
