This photograph was given to me by my wife. Amazing photograph with a lot of history. Reverse: Baltic Sea Shore 1945 - HSU Bukaev Ivan Prokofievich (Герой Советского Союза Букаев Иван Прокофьевич :: Герои страны).
It’s also interesting to see the Red Army posing with his trophy Sturmgewehr - 44.
Why does it look like a 1947 is turned into a 1945 on the back? It looks odd, especially since it's done with such a marker. Can you perhaps show a close-up? To me it feels like the date is been messed with.
Hi Marcel, Yes, it looks sort of odd but it really doesn't matter to me. It is still a unique scene of heroes of the war printed on Mimosa photo paper. Keep also in mind that the feat of Taranovka in which Bukaev Ivan Prokofievich took part, is an example of mass heroism, and comparable with the battle of 28 Panfilov’s...
It's not a marker, its a pencil.
I agree. It is a very nice photo of brave men and women. As a "collectors item" however the collectors value is damaged quite a bit because the date was altered to make the item more interesting. In my eyes there was nothing wrong with a '47 dated photo. However, someone once thought a '45 dated photo would be more sellable/valuable.
100% True. Wait until I post the other HSU photographs from my collection.
