Some help with Russian in an old passport...

Article about: Many thanks! it sure does clear things up. I attached a full scan of the passport page it came in...from Oct 1939 to Nov 1940 holder was in Belgrade, does this help? Thanks again, Neil

    Hi,

    This seems to be Russian applied hand stamp?
    Any ideas on who or what?

    Not for me, you see Uzbekistan and Mongolia also used to use Slavic alphabet

    I think it says:

    народно-ослободилачки одред

    which would mean People's Liberation Unit or similar in Serbian

    The lower three letters "бор" would be "Pine", so you would get 'People's Liberation Pine Detachment' or something like that. Probably the name of the unit is Pine?

    The whole thing seems to me to be related to Partisans perhaps, they used names like this, but i don't know for sure.

    It's not Russian, but Battery Command Post is right. Had a good laugh about this, because it make no sense in Russian.
