I obtained some photos taken by a Wehrmacht soldier who served in Ukraine during 1941-42. The photo I posted is peculiar in that I am not sure what rank or position these two men held based on their tunics. Notice tunics appear clean of rank or marking. Photo is dated 1941 and was taken either in or near Sigolowo (Germanized name) in Ukraine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Here is a photo that on the back is written, "Fritz Heidrich Breslau after Berlin". I am fairly sure the identification on the back was added after the war because the ink looks too recent. Does anyone on the Forum know if this photo is THE Generalmajor Fritz Heidrich, Commander of Military-District-Command III Breslau who was listed as missing in 1945?

Could they be WWI, or post WWI uniforms, that were "modernized" for use during the big push east?

Is it possibly that these men are not actually military, as such, but are assigned to the Propaganda Ministry, or something like that, and are uniformed to give them credibility with roadblocks, while not actually being in the military?

Could they be former soldiers, who were wounded, and were disabled out of the military, but are serving in a support role?

I don't know, just postulating.
