A friend of mine loaned me these ministry of information photographs I have seen some of them before in books or magazines, I assume they were used for propaganda but who would be given the actual photograph as I assume news papers magazines and so on were given the negatives? They were originally owned by a Royal Marine WW11 veteran who sadly died recently, one of the navel pictures has HMS Anson written in pensile on the back as well as the ministry of information stamp so I am assuming that it was the ship he served on and looking on Wikipedia there was one of the photographs.

Nice photos. I love the water, but I'd have hated to be out on the 'High Seas'
    in that frigid weather !

You could be right about their newspaper connection, but they look
rather small for this application - 8.5" x 11" size is more of a
    standard for publication purposes.

They almost look like those small collectible 'bubblegum cards'
    - or the kind you could buy in a souvenir pack.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yes it must have been hard going on the Russian convoys.
They are roughly postcard size , perhaps they were just given out to the troops but then you would expect to find them in their thousands?
