Very interesting the 3rd AF shuttled aircraft all over the country but usually they didn't use pilots with this much experience. I'm suprised he wasn't placed in a training role. I guess from the graduation date this was probably in 1944? Here is the website for WWII casualtie info on the national archives website. Maybe they have something interesting. You would just enter the state then search by county.
