I like the Jeep with the modified front wings. A popular late war field fix.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Hi RH1941,

The Lady in the photographs touring the US Camps is in fact H.R.H. Princess Marina,Duchess of Kent.

I hope that the information is of some use and help.

    Best wishes

Andrzejku you are correct the photos are of the Duchess of Kent . good eye. the photo album I was given by my friend is very nicely done with names dates people and places. I thought it would be a nice little brain teaser for the forum to ID the Duchess. Gary

Two pictures of my Father in North Africa during WWII. On the reverse of the picture with the wine, it says 'the wine bottles WERE full'. Anyone recognise the wrecked vehicle he is sat in?

A couple of recently acquired ‘press’ photos of the Polish 1st Armoured Division following the liberation of the Dutch town of Breda.

First up is the well known trumpeter photo, although it’s nice to finally see it in sharp focus. The description on the back states that these men were awarded the Virtuti Militari, which is no doubt in reference to the badges mounted to their tunic pockets. These are in fact the regimental badge of their unit, the 24th Lancers.

    Tony

Here's one I've never seen before, from a series of known photograph's taken this day The negative from which the photo was processed appears to have sustained some damage.

The text on the reverse is printed in red on a newsprint type paper and adhered to the photo, typical of these 'press' pics. I've photoshopped it to black to make it more readable.

    Cheers,
    Tony
