    Default U.s. Navy armed guard

I recently acquired an archive of papers of a Lt. who was in the U. S. Navy Armed Guard in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. They include his commission document, a barage baloon certificate, and four logs detailing his command's activities on a daily basis. I had never heard of this outfit before, but apparently it was made up of sailors whose job was to protect troop ships, liberty ships, and ships in the Merchant Marine. I'm curious if any members are familiar with the Guard. Any thoughts on whom might find these papers to be of interest? Thanks for your help.
