    Hello everybody,

On Monday, I found this photograph on the website www.fiskertonairfield.org.uk.

    Unknown R.A.F. pilot

    Pembrey, Wales ( 1943 ).

Left to right : Air Gunner Student Ernest Loop, Miles Martinet pilot and Flight Sergeant Eddie Wise.

It was such a suprise, because I knew Ernest Loop! I met him - with a free researcher - at his home place ( July 8th, 2010 ). He was the youngest volunteer among the Belgians who flew in the R.A.F. " IN OPERATIONS ", as he said ( he was only 16 years old ). Ernest made 57 bombing missions with N°98 Bomber Squadron. He finished the war as Flying Officer and awarded the D.F.C. " Loopy " ( one of his nicknames ) was a jolly good chap with such a sense of humor. We had a very good time, indeed!!!!!!! Hopefully, He answered all my questions!!!!

Sadly, Ernest passed away on Monday June 20th, 2011, at the age of 86 years old.

During this week, I received some mails from Mister Martin Wise who lives in Australia ( Eddie Wise son ). He is very grateful with the informations I gave. But he has no idea about the Sergeant identity who stands between Ernest and Eddie. So do I!

    Anybody can help us?

    Thanks a lot.

    Cheers,

    Mehdi.

    Perhaps this helps....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Martinet

BTW, could the pilot's shoulder flash also say Belgium?
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'

In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
