The Turks had placed crossing fields of machinegun fire above the beaches and the firing was so heavy this was bound to happen as remote as it seems.
I believe only one bullet was fired, note rifling marks on only the piercing bullet.
Probably hit a ammo pouch and was lodged in it that way.

Reminds me of the story of a British soldier in the Far East who was shot though both wrists and both ankles by a SINGLE Japanese bullet !
He had been tying his left bootlaces when the bullet struck .......... went through his left wrist, then left ankle, then right wrist then right ankle.
