This arrived this weekend and I am very happy. This is an original 16" bayonet made in 1942 by Wilde Drop Tool (WT). WT only made approximately 60,000 bayonets which makes them the rarest maker. The 16" bayonet was modified to 10" by American Fork and Hoe after the orders were instituted which made a 10" bayonet the standard. The grip panels used on WT bayonets were also unique to them. The mottled brown and black specs. Some also have a distinct black square area around the screw holes. The original 16" scabbard was also cut down for the new bayonet length. I doubt this was ever issued or seen the light of day. It would have been awesome to have the original box.
