Does anyone have any ideas? I did some research, and to me it seems generally ok, but i'm definitely not a expert in the field of militaria. The markings look good, the date ( 4 '10 ) works for a quillon, and JAC made these bayonets. The quillon doesnt look to square. The metal however is shiny, is this due to polishing? I see many 1907's that appear this way, but like I said, I'm not expert!

Hope I can get some opinions on this, as it is offered to me for sale.

    Thanks,
    Quinn

On first glance it looks OK.

I think it was once in a very rough condition as it has obviously been scrubbed hard, and has lost all of it's original finish on the hilt. The ER stamp under the crown is a good sign.

How much are they wanting for this? Let me do a bit more looking up for you.

    Hey Rob,

Thanks so much for your reply.
The seller wants $150 Canadian. Does this seem like a decent price? There is no scabbard included.
I imagine that the polishing will detract the value of the piece.

I can't see any of the normal warning signs seen on fakes although I always like to handle an item like this before purchasing.

As Rob says it does seem to have had a good cleaning which inevitably reduces the value, however tThe price [about £95] seems reasonable to me.

Thanks for the help guys! I'm not quite sure if I should go for this one. It would be great to have in my collection, but $150 is a lot for a 16 year old :P
I'll definitely consider it. I would love some more opinions too.

    Thanks again,

What are some warning signs/red flags that I should look out for on a fake quilloned 1907? I am going to see and inspect the bayo in person before (if) I purchase it.

    Thanks guys,

    Quinn

EDIT: Nevermind, the seller sold the knife today...
The feeling you get when an item you wanted is sold really ***** :\ Thanks for the help everybody.
