It's a traditional style sgian dubh, these are still made and sold in numerous Highland regalia shops. My question would firstly is what is the handle grip made from? If it's a synthetic material it's recent manufacture. It doesn't look hand carved. These would of course be bought by anyone turning out in Highland dress, Pipe bands etc. The crown on the hilt is a Queen's crown, and that may indicate it is associated with a Highland regiment, or not at all.
