Very nice and very rare Middle East Commando knife. I like the fact that it has been personalised - any info on the original owner? (I can't quite make out the name)
The name is Lt. Col. E.J. Kinvic, Sudan & Eritrea 1940/41. Sadly I can't find anything on him.
I have had a quick look and can't find anything either, it appears to be an unusual surname. These knives often found their way into the hands of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) and the SAS, however given the date of 1940/41 I would suggest that the original owner was either a commando or LRDG and not SAS.
I've just rang my mate to have a closer look at the name. It could be an S at the end i.e. Kinvis.
