    Default Camillus ka-bar..comercial??

I picked this up at a flea market several years ago. It was advertised as
a military Ka-Bar made by Camillus. I told the seller that I believed it was
made for the commercial market but he insisted it was of military origin.
We dickered a bit and he let it go for $15. Here's what I'm talking about.
Thank you in advance for your info. Rich

I believe the serrations have been added at a later date, not original to the knife.

Ka-Bar and Camillus are brands. So technically it is not a Ka-Bar.

I'm no knife guy and these can get complicated for the non-experts like me.

But this link might help. Same knife but with out the saw tooth (was that added? or Original? I don't know but they look crudely done). But the key is that the US Camillus stamp without "NY", dates these knives to post 1974.

Indeed, those serrations are not factory, and I'm guessing that
the blade has been polished, removing the black coating.

I believe Michael is correct about the date. Probably available
at the PX, along with other hunting/military/utility types.
I've got a rather well used one that I bought from a
dealer who purchased it from a Canadian soldier,
and another commercial Camillus that is
'in the white', with slight differences in
    crossguard and sheath........
