Field made short sword: Help needed from Greek speakers

Hi Guys, this item came into work. Field made with a leather scabbard with Greek ? writing on it.

Any ideas?

Can't help with the Greek, but it looks like someone has cut down a British P1796 light cavalry sabre, or Blucher variant.

Might well be.

No history behind the item, it came in with a load of other knives which had been collected over the years.

I can see "Ethiopia" written on the scabbard, but that is about it.
