The bayo is not a 'Jungle Carbine' type-it's the No.9 bayo post WW2 for the No,4 rifle-will not fit on the No.5 rifle (the 'JC').

The so called 'jungle carbine' is another kettle of fish altogether.

Its shooting characteristics is NOT to be compared to the standard SMLE.

If you want if for the looks and/or as a wallhanger, so be it, but dont buy it in the mistaken belief, that its a nice comfortable shooter.

The Lee Enfield SMLE was the best bolt action battle rifle ever made-the theoretical accuracy advantages of the Mauser action were more than outweighed by the robust action that was easily worked and the 10 round detachable box magazine of the SMLE and its successor the No.4 rifle. Although now very near to the end of the road after 124 years it still serves to this day in many corners of the world and the L42 Sniper rifle is still issue to British forces as it works when required under the most adverse conditions unlike modern rivals.
I would never be able to tell, that you are from a nation, that once used the SMLE in great numbers

A few die-hard Mauser fans might be hitting the ceiling by now!

So, what's the opinion of Enfield rifles?
Although I'm not from a nation that used SMLE but I'll support lightgow's word. SMLE was and stands for the best bolt action rifle ever made. One of a few British gun-engineering success.
Back me up, gents will you?

You dont need back-up The Smelly is without a shadow of a doubt a fine engineering feat.
I like the rifle very much. A well made and to me a beautiful rifle.

A fine rifle in its own right. The unmistakable profile will for ever spell British military might in my mind.

How ever (should one play devils advocate), that does not change the fact, that the bolt action system, that rules supreme today, is the Mauser system - not the Smelly.

From a sporting/hunting rifle POV - the Mauser, that pinnacle or rather the epitome of bolt action weapons, is hard to beat.

I still like them both though

So the JC probably has a 'kick' that keeps it from being funto shoot.

Make sure it looks Exactly like the above rifle in post #17,
