HELP: Pre-WWII U.S. dress swords

Article about: I am in dire need for someone to give me a crash course on pre-WWII U.S. dress swords. I know ZERO about them and I was offered one for \\$50 with the original scabbard. Here are the basic que

    i am going to go pick them up tonight.

    i dont care much for swords though. i would be interested in trading them off with some cash for a nice german helmet.
