Default Indo-Persian Sword - Tulwar or Shamshir

Found at the militaria show today for a decent price !
There is a slot in the lower crossguard where a knuckle
bow was attached, and traces of gilt design or lettering
just visible on the right side of the blade.

I'm guessing this may be a type of souvenir as it is
not as old or ornate as some I've seen online,
though the blade is rather well made and
    shows some quality.........

Don't know if the blade shows a maker logo or a
metallurgic flaw beneath the langet - the blade
    is 8mm thick.
There are also tiny particles of gold in patterns
remaining on the grip. Perhaps it was a highly
    decorated piece originally.........?

A number of years ago, I can remember seeing modern assembled Tulwars from period blades, etc. being offered for sale. They were quite well made and resembled the one shown fairly well. They were advertised as "being assembled by an old armorer who had worked for the British Raj". (This was quite awhile ago, of course)

Hi William. I've read that some might have been
made up from old/used European blades.........

It would be interesting to know the approximate age
of the sword, and if it were something other than
    a tourist piece. Ideas welcome........
