looks like one to me, except the maker is camillus, I have forgotten who made the most, but camillius is a fine brand I have 2 m-4 bayonets made by them for my m-1 carbine, which btw the m-4 bayo's had many makers, even Dutch & Japanese post war on the Japanese KIFFE brand. nice blade you own.

Camillus was war time. They were really similar to Kabars. I have around 3 of them and two Kabars. Yours looks like a nice example. Yours looks around WW2 post war.

This is a fairly RECENT Camillus 'MkII'.

Camillus did make knives during WWII, but this knife is most likely from
the '70's or '80's. They went out of business several years ago,
but the MkII is still made by 'Ontario'.

The 'tell' on this type of knife - to know if it is modern - is the 'U.S.' above
the maker, plus, the handle and scabbard colour are both waterproofed
with a shiney chocolate brown coating.

Original leather sheaths were natural tan/light brown in colour.


Below are three modern Camillus Mk II's and a repro Kabar USMC MkII.

Steve, no I didn't know but the ww2 era trench, or fighting knives didn't have the U.S. on them, all of my m-4 bayonets have U.S. m-4 on them, just didn't know this, thanks for the info.

Generally, the 5" MkI and 7" MkII's knives were used by the US Navy and Marine Corps.

Well, it's been in my dad's collection for a while, so I'd have to say 70's. So it is correct to call it a KA-BAR even though it was manufactured by Camillus? And it is an authentic military issue?

I think these are 'military issue', but they are known as Mark II ( MkII ).
