    Hello all,

Hoping to get your opinions on this Navy Mark 2 Knife. It looks good to me based on my limited knowledge on US knives. It appears to be sharpened and the tip seems to be a little more blunt than I would like, but none the less a cool knife. Any opinions are appreciated!

Nice Ka-Bar. Looks like it has seen post-war use, which is not
uncommon. Myself - and I know there are several other
members, use these for camping, fishing etc, though
    I carry a 70's model Camillus MK2.

I believe earlier production knives came with
    a leather sheath.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

    Steve,

Thanks for the input. Should this knife have a leather sheath or is the sheath correct to the knife? I assumed so because the markings matched but this I know little about US knives.

The WWII era 'Victory Plastics' sheath is correct for this knife.
Sometime in 1943, specifications for the MKI, MKII, and
US-M3 knives called for the wording to be stamped
on the crossguard instead of the blade itself.

Below is a WWII Camillus MKII, and below that some more
recent ones - The one I usually carry is on the right:

'United States Military Knives Collectors Guide' by Michael Silvey
and Gary Boyd is a pretty decent one. B&W photos only,
    but it covers a lot.

There is a series of books no longer in print by M.H. Cole
that used to be the best resource, but today there
    are many other good ones..........
    Regards,

    Steve.
