This dagger looks to be what is known as a 'theater made' knife,
except that it is very well constructed, so it probably falls
under the category of 'private purchase'.
It is not an issue piece, but very nice..............!

I can only wonder if the knife was carried on Tarawa, Into Naples,or Chosin and if it was ever used for its intended purpose.
rather interesting........never seen one before. sure looks like its well made
