    Default No4 Enfield Bayonet Help

    Hi everyone.

I have just ordered these bayonets of the internet, pretty standard and not rare i know. It appears that 2 of them have remains of yellowish paint on them, can anyone shed any light on why this would be?

    Thanks as always

My very first bayonet was one of these - cost 50 pence or 10 shillings at the time

I would assume the yellow paint is for desert use.

Is that Arabic on the bottom bayonet in the middle photo ?

British equipment was used post WW2 in a number of "sandy places" - Iraq and Jordan spring to mind.

    Regards

Thanks Richie, I originally thought of them being used in the desert. I believe it says "F.F. & S. Ld", meaning, Fred Fisher & Sons Ltd who apparently were subcontractors that produced many of the No. 4 Mk. II* socket forgings. Courtesy of (Britain - No. 4 Spike Bayonets)
