Thoughts on this Au Lion 1918? What's left of it...

Article about: I recently came across ehh... what's left of... an Au Lion 1918 knife. They claim it to be original, and nothing stands out as a fake to me. Can anybody else give some thoughts on this? I lo

    Thanks Lance! Much appreciated.

I agree with what you're saying, but I still may buy it just for the challenge... Even if I don't complete the knife, I'd be happy with just a set of original knucks. I love knuckledusters and knuckle knives alike, so it doesn't bother me too much to keep it with no blade.

    Greetings all,

Looks like the same knife in question U.S. 1918 Combat Knuckle Knife : WW1 & WW2 Collectibles at GunBroker.com Seller had originally posted a “Buy it now” price of $400.00 and a starting price of $250.00. Needless to say, it didn’t sell. It’s recently been relisted with a starting price of $150.00, which is more realistic/reasonable. I don’t need any more “project” knives myself, but this would be a nice starter knife (piecing project) if it sold for $150.00.

    Regards,

    Lance

Surprisingly enough, yes that is the exact knife! Odd to see it on gunbroker, that's the last place I expected to see it. I may just buy it after all with the starting bid at 100... He was asking $175 in the antique store.

    Greetings,

Yes, that’s typical with these style knives. Many dealers think they have some uber-rare piece when they see the 1918 date and feel the heft of the knuck's weight. Gunbroker is a decent place to sell knuckle knives once eBay banned their sales. You can still get them off of eBay too, but you have to be fast.

    Happy Hunting,

    Lance
