simply beautiful I'm filled with envy
Looks a good one to me. I do like that it says 'Olean N.Y.'
What is different is the scabbard - I didn't know that
they were marked with the EGA, and thought this
was only seen on replicas/remakes - but it has all
the signs of age and wear I'd expect to see .
According to Mo, this guy is pretty flexible. $150 would
be a good price, IMO. A guy up here had one for sale
at $400 because it belonged to some Admiral that
his mom knew - Lol !
Below, extreme left, is a remake. It is easy to see
the differences between the two.........

Steve.
Hmmm... I think you may be onto something, Steve. I've just read that scabbards with the EGA and not simply/ discretely marked "USMC" may be modern, commercial repros.
But then again, this one has the rivets that aren't seen on the repro one you just posted.
Perhaps a good KA-BAR with a repro scabbard aged to match?
Could be just that. Scabbard is aged rather well, if it's modern.
The knife itself is WWII era. I have a couple of books on
U.S. Military knives so I'll see what I can find, though
I still think it's a nice one.........!
Regards,
Steve.
Thanks, Steve!
I believe they began reproducing these during vietnam for the military or am I wrong
I thought earlier when reading that the scabbard was a remake, I believe Steve is right that they were never marked with the EGA.
