He had a lot of really cool stuff for cheap at the sale. I missed out on an Ivory puzzle box, another picker got 2 boxes of old metal derby cars, and who the heck knows what else was in that house. I should have hung out longer but I had to go plus I am not greedy, I got my deal so I am quite happy

I noticed you mentioned arrowheads. Some guys who are
into knives like the idea of flint knapping and will collect
those as well. There are a few 'experts' around today
who make serious blades and arrowheads.

Have you figured out the sheath problem.........?
    Regards,

    Steve.

I think it has likely been sharpened. I suppose these knives
were for light use rather than being stored away in a
collectors case, and probably did not cost too
    much back in the day.........
Out of interest, why would you think LIGHT use only?
Im not disputing anything, but merely interested.

    Hello mate,

It was a popular scouting knife for decades until 'elf un safety' and other laws stopped it. I've got one in an old toolbox somewhere, and the pommel is aluminium, dating it to the 60's-70's I think. Pre war the pommel was usually brass, and after the war, alloys and such were scarce and the pommels were then made using a Fibreloid type phenol resin/artificial fibre mix from wars end until around about the mid 50's.

    Regards, Ned.
Good to still be benefitting from Ned's knowledge, sadly missed

Indeed. And William Rodgers is a quality Sheffield maker who also made war time and post WW2 Fairbairn-Sykes knives, and may have been the designer of the 3rd pattern alloy grip.
