Do you know if it is possible to knwo why a soldier had this medal, it was during Jubilee Operation.
His name : Sub-Lieutenant RCNVR Andrew Allan WEDD. He was in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve.
I don't know when he died.

"This Officer was wounded in the shoulder whilst landing the Fusiliers Mount Royal at 0700 with the 4th and 5th LCP. Boats were under fire from the cliffs during the run in, and for the last 200 yards came under intense fire form all the buildings in front of the beach as well as from the cliffs. Having landed his troops, this Officer withdrew his boat, and went alongside a destroyer where his wound was dressed. Later at about 0930 he attempted to land a party of Canadian Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers with a 'Special High Forward Radio'. The landing was not successful as fire was too heavy and the craft had to withdraw after approaching to within about 100 yards of the beach."

The Canadians suffered heavy casualties in the Dieppe Raid, but much was learned from it and it helped ensure the Normandy invasion in 1944 was successful.

This is my GRANDFATHER his metals were lost when a family storage unit was sold. Do you have this metal? He died many years ago. We miss him dearly. Would love to track down his missing metals.
