I went to a Ball/Dinner party at Stoke Rochford hall near Grantham in Lincolnshire last weekend and I thought some of the buildings looked WW2 so I did a little on line research and found out this from Wikipedia.

Second world war
In 1940 the house was requisitioned by the War Office, and used for a variety of purposes.

Later was the headquarters of the Second Battalion, the Parachute Regiment. It was in the Library at Stoke Rochford that the ill fated 1944 Arnhem ‘drop’ was planned.[3]

Cheers, Chris.
