Hi fellas,
Can anyone tell me what a Field Park Company is.
What was their role and did they operate in or around Combat Zones ?
Thanks for any help
Cheers Mick

Gday Mick,
I think they were logistical company sized units who looked after horses, livestock and the like.
A Field Park I believe was a area set up to accommodate these animals.

Thanks Dave,
So by the very word they were in the "Field" close to the action ?
I'd say your looking 20-30 km behind the line, depending on what war!
I believe most Field Parks were large logistical hubs as horses were a major form of logistical transport.Every thing from field kitchens to arty pieces.
The longer the war went on the more important these animals became to Germanys war effort as fuel and motorised transport became more and more scarce.
Also good emergency tucker
Smaller sub units would have certainly operated close to the front lines I would think mate.
OK thanks, AMTG,
Thats close enough in WW2
Mick
Thanks again Dave
No worries Mick
Just for interests sake here's an image of my half Erkennungsmarken issued to a serviceman who worked in such a Park.
Have a good one mate
Dave
