Default Gas mask, who is this guy?

    Hi,
i could not find anywere else to post this and its a long shot.
my pal moved house and we found this gas mask with a name and address.
    anyone know this name?
    found in coventry in 2007.
i contacted the council and found out he moved from that address for 1 year and going on the electrol role that was the last thing.
it would be nice to return it to the family.

Hi, I cant help you with the owner of the mask, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out with finding his family.

The mask its a Second World War MkV Service Respirator, this version has the longer hose/tube fitted so the filter can be carrier at the side, these were issued to members of the Navy and Airforce, but many found their way into the Army and Civil Defence. Nice item though, even better that its marked by the original owner

    Thanks for showing

    Danny

I certainly would not worry about trying to return the gas mask. I think the family would regard it as junk. Not quite sure I follow you as to when this person moved from the house?

While the serial number info Nick gives is interesting and correct, I cannot possibly see that actual number as being related to an aircraft in this case. A name and address and aircraft serial code just does not make sence. I am much more tempted to think HG=Home Guard.

    Cheers, Ade.

Im not that bothered just thought it would be good if i could.
he moved house in 1942/43 then theres no trace of him.
the house it was found in was build pre war.
and was hidden away in the loft.
    home gaurd makes sence.
    cheers.
